Aloha Pool Service – Green Pool Cleanup

When a pool turns green—or even black—from storms, flooding, or equipment failure, it needs more than routine maintenance. Our Green Pool Cleanup Service is designed to safely restore your water, protect your pool’s surface, and get your backyard back to normal as quickly as possible.

Because every green pool is different, we must assess the pool in person before providing an exact quote. Our service has a minimum price of $500, and we require 60% down to begin work.

Why Green and Black Pools Need Professional Cleanup

Flooding, heavy rain, and equipment failures introduce contaminants that normal service can’t handle. Floodwater may contain:

  • Fertilizers and lawn chemicals
  • Road oils and runoff
  • Lake or river water
  • In severe cases, sewage and bacteria

When a pool sits green for too long, algae can stain the surface, damage the finish, and overwhelm the filtration system. Fast, professional treatment prevents long-term problems.

What Aloha’s Green Pool Cleanup Includes

Every cleanup is customized based on severity, but most services include:

  • Multiple service visits to restore water clarity
  • Heavy-duty chemical treatments (chlorine, acid, enzymes, phosphate removers, and more)
  • Brushing walls, steps, and floors
  • Vacuuming debris and algae buildup
  • Cleaning or backwashing filters multiple times
  • Monitoring water balance as the pool clears

In some cases, such as flooding or extended periods of neglect, a pool must be completely drained and refilled with clean water. The homeowner is responsible for any damage to the pool before, during, or after the draining of the pool. If the pool looks like a dark green lake that you would be afraid to swim in, it needs to be completely drained. The cleanup process on severely flood-damaged or severely neglected pools is time-consuming. If you have the money, we have the time and expertise to turn a cement pond into a beautiful pool.

Hurricane and Flood Cleanup

Storm-related green or black pools often require deeper treatment due to unknown contaminants. After assessment, additional charges may apply depending on severity.

Our hurricane/flood cleanup typically includes:

  • A minimum of two professional service visits
  • Repeated filter cleaning or backwashing
  • Extra chemical shock treatments
  • Removal of storm debris
  • Water balancing and clarity restoration

Filter Maintenance After a Green Pool Event

Because algae and contaminants overload filtration systems, proper filter service is essential.

DE Filters

  • Full teardown and cleaning: $160
  • Recommended at least once per year, and always after severe contamination.

Cartridge Filters

  • Cartridges should be replaced after a green pool cleanup, even if recently cleaned.
  • Replacement cost depends on filter type and size.
